PAT testing should form part of your health and safety reporting. PAT testing protects you and keeps your employees, visitors or guests safe.
There are three different classes and seven categories. Class 1 means it needs to be fully PAT tested, Class 2 means it needs a PAT insulation test, while Class 3 means it doesn’t need to be tested (though charging cables may need to be). Wessex PAT testing can test items in all three classes on site or at our workshop in Milborne St Andrew near Blandford.
Portable Appliance Testing is the regular checking and examination of portable electrical appliances to make sure they are safe to use in a working environment.
Our Dorset based team can attend offices at a time that suits including evenings and weekends.

It is an employers duty under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 to ensure the welfare of all employees. This includes ensuring all equipment is safe to use.
PAT Testing is not a legal requirement although the law states that any electrical equipment in the workplace is regularly maintained and does not pose any danger, the penalty for not meeting legal obligations on electrical appliance safety can be as high as 2 years’ imprisonment. An unlimited financial penalty can be applied by the Court.
